HDPE Sheet Installation Quick Start Guide

  • Wear safety glasses and cut-resistant gloves.
  • Hearing protection recommended.
  • Stable, clean work surface. Clamp the sheet before any cut or drill.
  • Use plastic-rated blades/bits. Moderate feed to avoid melting.

  • Mark with a straightedge and clamp securely.
  • Sharp blade; slow feed to reduce heat and chipping.
  • For long cuts, light water spritz. Ease edges with 120-grit sandpaper.

  • Standard wood/metal bits; avoid aggressive self-feeding bits.
  • Use a backer board; start slow, then steady feed. For large holes, use a hole saw.

  • Predrill about +1/16 in (1.5 mm) for thermal movement; deburr.
  • Use coarse-thread screws with oversized washers or pan heads. Do not overtighten.

  • HDPE sheets expand and contract with temperature changes.
  • Due to their molecular structure, they expand more in length than in width.
  • Allow proper clearance at joints and around fasteners.

  • Deburr/sand edges; clean with mild soap and water. Avoid harsh solvents.
  • Adhesives are generally not recommended; if required, flame-treat first.
